Valve springs weaken after a severe overheat. If you are replacing a cracked cylinder head due to overheating, we recommend checking the springs. When they are removed, line them up in a row and visually compare their heights - any defective springs be obvious. A good spring length should be in the region of 37mm and the poundage should be 25LB @ 31mm
